Did you see the sad story of David Dopp, who won a dream car that turned into a nightmare?

Mr. Dopp won $300,000 Lamborghini Murcielago in a convenience store’s “Joe Schmo to Lambo” contest and took home this exotic beauty (still an awesome sight despite the obnoxious lime green color.)

Mr. Dopp, a 34-year-old truck driver from Santaquin, Utah, with 6 kids, was showing off the Italian roadster’s 12-cylinder, 640-hp engine, electronic traction control and ceramic brakes when he made a slight miscalcluation.

Taking the Lambo around a corner at 45 mph, Mr. Dopp hit a patch of black ice. Even a supercar’s high-end traction control couldn’t do its magic on a sheet of ice. The car spun out of control and struck a curb.

Mr. Dopp had only owned the car about 6 hours.

Rather than fix it, or even risk a boost in premiums for his car insurance ($7,000 a year), Mr. Dopp says he’s going to sell the car.

“That’s why rich people own them. The poor people like me don’t,” Mr. Dopp told the press.
